Dark Girl a documentary premiering in October at the International Black Film Festival in Nashville.

This is absolutely heartbreaking, and very potent to our society. Issues like this, I feel as if we’d like to think they don’t exist, but in all reality they do. These are issues being faced on a daily basis and yet there aren’t being acknowledged because as a society we feel as if they’re not important enough.

This is something that really irritates me about the fan art whitewashing arguments raging across Tumblr. The artists get defensive and essentially say, “So I colored her skin a few shades lighter than it actually is. What’s the big deal?!”

THIS. THIS IS THE BIG DEAL.
